
In an exciting and innovative project, students from Ralph Thoresby School and Leeds Youth Jazz/Rock Orchestra will perform music and drama based on a selection of works by jazz legend Charles Mingus including 'Self Portrait in Three Colours', 'Tonight at Noon' and 'Eclipse'. The music and text selected will be further enhanced with visual imagery using original artwork by students, which relates to the chosen pieces. A prominent theme of these pieces will be to the explore the political tensions of the early 60's using the satirical 'Fables of Faubus' and 'Haitian Fight Song'.
