North Leeds Jazz Orchestra (NLJO) was founded by Brendan Duffy in the early 1990s as the Scott Hall Jazz and Blues Band.
Martin Townsend, its current director, took over in 1996 and the following year a version of the jazz orchestra travelled to Spain as part of a Music Centre visit. With the arrival of a brass section the Jazz and Blues Band became the NLJO in its present form.
NLJO has performed many times around the Leeds area including appearances at the Chapel Allerton festival in 2002 and 2003. It is based at Carr Manor School, as part of the North Leeds Music Centre.
